HP Business BASIC/XL Migration Guide
Options
Use the following migration aid options to customize your migration.
OPTION DECIMAL OPTION DECIMAL changes HP 260 REAL and
SHORT floating-point decimal numbers and
declarations into floating-point decimal
numbers and declarations. This affects
the PROG, DATA, SCHEMA, and DATASET
commands. OPTION DECIMAL remains in
effect until an OPTION REAL executes.
OPTION DECIMAL is the default.
OPTION INPUTLOOPS OPTION INPUTLOOPS inserts loops around
all WAIT, INPUT, TINPUT, ACCEPT, and
LINPUT statements. The loops make HP
Business BASIC/XL softkeys act more like
BASIC/260 softkeys. See chapter 17,
"Evaluating Changes You Need to Make" for
more information about using this
command. OPTION INPUTLOOPS remains in
effect until an OPTION NOINPUTLOOPS
command executes.
OPTION NOINPUTLOOPS OPTION NOINPUTLOOPS turns off OPTION
INPUTLOOPS. OPTION NOINPUTLOOPS remains
in effect until an OPTION INPUTLOOPS
command executes. OPTION NOINPUTLOOPS is
the default.
OPTION JOINFORM OPTION JOINFORM changes HP 260 FORMS into
JOINFORM FORMS. See chapter 21,
"Migrating FORMS/260 Forms" for
information about forms migration.
OPTION JOINFORM remains in effect until
an OPTION VPLUS executes. OPTION VPLUS
is the default.
OPTION MPEXL OPTION MPEXL changes all BASIC 260 DATA
files directly to HP Business BASIC/XL
native mode DATA (BDTXL) files. The main
difference between an HP Business BASIC/V
(compatibility mode) DATA file and a
native mode HP Business BASIC/XL DATA
file is the internal representation of
floating-point real format. MPE XL
represents real data types in native mode
HP Business BASIC/XL programs and DATA
files in IEEE real format. The default
is OPTION MPEV. OPTION MPEV changes BASIC
260 DATA files to HP Business BASIC/V
DATA (BDATA, compatibility mode DATA)
files.
OPTION MPEV OPTION MPEV changes all BASIC 260 DATA
files to HP Business BASIC/V DATA (BDATA,
compatibility mode DATA) files. Use this
option if you want data files to be
shared between native mode and
compatibility mode HP Business BASIC/XL
programs. This is the default option.
OPTION MSG OPTION MSG turns off option NOMSG. This
is the default.
OPTION NOMSG OPTION NOMSG suppresses SYNTAX CHANGE and
ADDED LINE comments that are added to a
converted program as remarks. This saves
code space. This option turns off OPTION
MSG. OPTION MSG is the default.
OPTION REAL OPTION REAL changes all floating-point
numbers and declarations into
floating-point real numbers and
declarations. This affects the PROG,
DATA, SCHEMA, and DATASET commands.
OPTION REAL remains in effect until an
OPTION DECIMAL executes. OPTION DECIMAL
is the default.
OPTION REALV OPTION REALV adds the keyword, "REALV" in
the PACKFMT and IN DATA SET statements in
program files. Include this option to
add a REALV keyword in the PACKFMT list
if an HP Business BASIC/XL native mode
program needs to move data to or from a
PACKed string containing real or short
real numbers in compatibility mode (MPE V
real format). Also include this option
if you use real data types as a search
condition or as a key in sorting a
database. Real numbers in database files
are stored in compatibility mode real
format (MPE V real format). HP Business
BASIC/V programs and compatibility mode
HP Business BASIC/XL programs ignore the
keyword REALV in a PACKFMT or IN DATASET
statement. OPTION NOREALV is the
default.
OPTION NOREALV OPTION NOREALV does not put the keyword,
REALV, in the PACKFMT and IN DATA SET
statements of your program file. The
REALV keyword is unnecessary if you do
not use real data types in your databases
or if you are changing to an HP Business
BASIC/V program. This is a default
option.
OPTION VPLUS This command changes HP 260 FORMS into
VPLUS FORMS. See chapter 21, "Migrating
FORMS/260 Forms" for information about
migrating forms. OPTION VPLUS remains in
effect until an OPTION JOINFORM executes.
OPTION VPLUS is the default.
