Chapter 16 Planning Your Migration from BASIC/260
Introduction
Follow the steps below to plan your migration. These tasks are described
in detail in this chapter, except where noted.
* Be sure you have all the software you need for a successful
migration.
* Learn how to use the MPE XL machine. It is very different from the
HP 260.
* Establish a link between the HP 260 and the MPE XL based HP 3000.
Both machines should have the latest software releases. Refer to
your operating manuals for instructions.
* Set up account structures on both machines. One suggested way is to
use separate accounts for BASIC/V and HP Business BASIC/XL:
* OLDB260 (for BASIC/260 source)
* NEWBBXL (for HP Business BASIC/XL source)
Consult your system manager or refer to the MPE XL Commands Reference
Manual for information about setting up accounts and groups.
* Back up files on both the HP 260 and the HP 3000. Keep a store tape.
Refer to your operating manuals for instructions.
* Examine potential problems.
