System Startup, Configuration, and Shutdown Reference Manual
Shutting Down the System
To shut down the system, enter:
CTRL A
=SHUTDOWN
The following keywords can also be entered in the SHUTDOWN command to
document the shutdown:
SYSTEM
NETWORK
DTC
TERMINAL
TAPE
DISC
OTHER
You can use these options to indicate the reason that you are shutting
down the system. For example, if you shut down to clear a dtc hang, use
the DTC option.
CTRL A
=SHUTDOWN DTC
The console responds by listing shutdown messages similar to these:
Shutdown of operating system begins. (Shut 1)
Shutdown of user processes begins (Shut 2)
Shutdown of jobs & sessions begins. (Shut 3)
Spoolers notified of a shutdown. (Shut 16)
.
.
.
Shutdown of system processes begins. (Shut 4)
Shutdown of system managers begins. (Shut 5)
Shutdown of operating system complete. (Shut 6)
