Volume Management

FORMATVOL

The FORMATVOL command formats a disk pack (volume) to get it ready for
initialization with the NEWSET, NEWVOL, or INITVOL commands . This
command is needed only on rare occasions when an irrecoverable disk error
has been detected. After it is formatted, the volume is in the UNKNOWN
state.
