Performing System Operation Tasks
To abort a job
You can stop or abort any job. Aborting a job is similar to forcing
someone to log off the computer; you even use the same command. Aborting
a job does not destroy the job file, though. It just removes the job
from the computer's list of things to do.
To abort a job, first identify the job number by entering:
SHOWJOB JOB=@J
You must abort jobs one at a time. To do so, enter the ABORTJOB command
and the number of the job you want to abort (in place of nnn) as shown in
this example:
ABORTJOB #Jnnn
Repeat the ABORTJOB command for each job that you want to abort. To
verify that a job was successfully aborted, enter the SHOWJOB command and
the job number (in place of nnn) as in the following example:
SHOWJOB #Jnnn
When the computer sends you a "NO SUCH JOB(S)" message, then you have
succeeded.
