Performing System Operation Tasks

Deferring the Printing of a Report

The ;DEFER option of the SPOOLF command changes the spoolfile's state to
DEFER. If the spoolfile is currently in the PRINT state, its spooler is
notified and printing stops at that point. The spoolfile's priority
remains unchanged. If this option is used with the PRINT option, the
spoolfile is copied to OUT.HPSPOOL and is linked to the spooling system,
but the state of the spoolfile is DEFER. The spoolfile is not printed
until a subsequent SPOOLF...;UNDEFER is entered.

If the ;DEFER option is used on any file in the CREATE state, the
spoolfile enters the DEFER state only after it is completed (closed for
the last time).

To defer printing a report

Using the DEFER option of the SPOOLF command allows you to defer a
spoolfile without altering its original outputpriority value. When
spoolfiles are undeferred they retain the user-specified outputpriority.
To defer printing a report, enter:

     SPOOLF 357;DEFER

To defer one or more spoolfiles.

To defer several spoolfiles, use the DEFER parameter. For example:

     SPOOLF (357,375,458);DEFER

To change a report from deferred to ready state

Use the UNDEFER option to change a report from the DEFER state to the
READY state. For example:

     SPOOLF 357;UNDEFER
