Adding, Modifying, and Deleting Devices
Devices and device classes are added, modified and deleted in the I/O
Configurator program of the SYSGEN utility. The general procedure is:
* Verify the physical presence of the device to be added, its path
name, and that address switch settings and path name are in
agreement. Verify the installation of the CIB board, and that the
device is correctly cabled to the CIB board and line power source.
* Enter the SYSGEN utility and create a backup configuration group.
* Enter the I/O Configurator program.
* Check the configuration list to verify the availability of logical
devices (ldev) and their path numbers.
* Add, modify or delete a device and/or a device class and save the
modified configuration group.
* Check the configuration list to verify the addition, modification or
deletion of the device or device class.
* Close the system to all users (refer to Storing Files and Backing Up
the System (32650- 90140) and System Startup, Configuration, and
Shutdown Reference Manual (32650-90042)), restart it to execute the
newly modified configuration group System Startup, Configuration, and
Shutdown Reference Manual (32650-90042).
