Chapter 3 Accessing Application Message Catalogs After you create a formatted message catalog with the GENCAT utility, you access the formatted catalog from your application with system intrinsics, as shown in Figure 3.1. To read and output the messages, you must first open the catalog. Messages may be output to a file or a buffer. If run-time parameters are specified, they are substituted when messages are output. Before your program finishes, you must close the catalog.
