HP System Dictionary XL Gen. Ref. Vol. 2-Part 1 SDINIT
SDNIT Reinitialization Recovery
Should some error occur during reinitialization, SDINIT provides a
recovery feature which recovers the dictionary to the original state
prior to the reinitialization attempt. As mentioned above, SDINIT will
display a recover message telling you what action is necessary:
1. If the error occurred during step 1 of the reinitialization
operations (the unload step), then SDINIT will ask you to correct
the error and rerun SDINIT.
2. If the error occurred during any of the other three possible
operations (i.e., the DBUTIL purge, the dictionary reconstruction,
or the reload step), SDINIT will ask you to rerun SDINIT using the
"INFO=" parameter as follows:
RUN SDINIT.PUB.SYS; INFO="RECOVER"
No prompts are issued when running in recovery mode.
If the job stream is streamed successfully, you will receive both the MPE
job number and the SDINIT job stream message:
#J123
System Dictionary Recovery Job Stream Submitted
Job Stream Messages
Once the job is successfully streamed, you will receive the following
messages as long as you remain logged on to the same user and account
under which the job stream was submitted. If, however, you switch users
or accounts, you will not receive any of the recovery messages.
When the job begins execution, the following message appears:
System Dictionary Recovery Begins
If recovery completes successfully, the following message will be
displayed:
System Dictionary Recovery Completed
Using the recovery capability of SDINIT allows you to recover in the
least amount of time by eliminating the necessity of restoring the
dictionary database.
