Chapter 2  Programming Information 

Overview 

This chapter provides information necessary to use the System Dictionary
intrinsics.

It provides information needed to properly link programs for use with
System Dictionary, and gives suggestions for improving the operating
efficiency of those programs.

It also provides information on locking the dictionary to ensure the
integrity of dictionary transactions, and on logging dictionary
transactions to provide a backup method of restoring them in the event of
data loss.


NOTE  Some of the information in this chapter is different for each
      operating system (MPE V, MPE XL, and HP-UX) and is described
      separately.  Make sure you use the information which applies to the
      operating system you are using.
