Managing HP X.400 Administrator's Guide

Gathering Information

There are three commands, x4confcat
, x4configprint
, and x4dump
, that may be helpful in troubleshooting.

x4confcat

The x4confcat command concatenates and displays/prints the X.400
configuration files
. It displays the .conf files
as well as the .conf.new
files from the /usr/lib/x400 directory if they are different from the
corresponding .conf files. Modifying the configuration with x4admin
creates .conf.new files from existing .conf files. The .conf.new files
replaces the .conf files when you activate the configuration by selecting
ENABLE on the Configure X.400 Menu.

The output may be displayed on your screen or redirected
to a file. For example,

       x4confcat > filename

redirects the output to the specified filename.

NOTE Do not edit the X.400 configuration files. Use x4admin to modify your configuration.
x4configprint The x4configprint command displays/prints the current configuration of X.400. The output resembles the x4admin configuration screens , and may be displayed on your screen or redirected to a file. For example, x4configprint > filename redirects the output to the specified filename.
NOTE If you have problems with x4admin during configuration, such as an error displays when accessing the configuration screens, do not use x4configprint. Instead, use x4confcat to analyze the problem.
x4dump The x4dump command dumps X.400 and OTS information into the file /tmp/x400dump.sh. It dumps x4confcat, x4logview, x4stat, and x4version output; the permission, ownership, and group of X.400 and OTS files; a list of all X.400 files on your system; and event log, error log, and trace files for X.400 and OTS.
