Using the Node Management Services (NMS) Utilities
Before You Start
There are a number of requirements that you need to be aware of before
you attempt to run NMMGR:
* You must have MPE Node Manager (NM) or Network Administrator (NA)
capability to run NMMGR.
* Your terminal must have block mode capability to run NMMGR in
screen mode. All terminals supported by MPE iX have this
capability.
* An NMMGR screen is 24 lines long. If your terminal screen is
longer than 24 lines, the NMMGR function key labels on some
(older) screens appear to be four lines tall with blank labels on
the bottom two lines. These lines are blank because the functions
assigned by NMMGR clear any existing functions, although blank
labels may still appear on the screen. The function keys on more
recently added NMMGR screens, which store their function key
information in a different way, will appear as normal softkeys, on
two lines.
* If you are using a Vectra as a terminal and running AdvanceLink
Graphics, and you want to eliminate the extra lines on the older
screens, you can do so by pressing the [f9] function key. Press
the key again to restore the terminal labels when you move to one
of the new screens.
* If you are using a Vectra as a terminal and running AdvanceLink
2392, you will need to configure it for a 24-line screen as
described below, since it is normally only 23 lines. (You do not
need to perform these steps if you are using AdvanceLink
Graphics.)
1. Press [CONTROL] [f6] to display the AdvanceLink main menu.
2. Select Config Keys to display the configuration menu.
3. Select Global Config to display a screen of choices.
4. Press the [TAB] key until the cursor is at the Screen Size field.
5. Press [f2], NEXT CHOICE, until 24 appears in the field.
6. Press [f1], SAVE CONFIG, to save the information.
When you run NMMGR, press the [f9] key until the function keys appear
normally at the bottom of the screen. When you move from one type of
screen to another (that is, from an old-style screen to a new-style
screen or from new-style to old-style), press [f9] again until the
function keys appear normally at the bottom of that screen.
Note that [f9] is a three-way function key when the screen size is set to
24 lines. It can set the function key labels to no display, 1-line
display, or 2-line display.
If you are using another terminal emulator, refer to the documentation
for that program.
