Netware 3.11 for the HP 3000 Installing and Administering Guide

Before You Install 

Before you install NetWare for the HP 3000, do the following:

   1.  Verify you have the software and hardware required for the product
       (described later in this chapter).

   2.  Review the section, Changes from 3.01B to 3.11 NetWare in this
       chapter.

   3.  Determine what your network environment is:

          *   If you do not have a previous version of NetWare for the HP
              3000 already installed, refer to New Installation of 
              NetWare, in this chapter.

          *   Migrating from 3.01B to 3.11 NetWare for the HP 3000 refer
              to Chapter 5, Migrate NetWare Version 3.01B to 3.11 for
              pre-installation, installation, and migration procedures.

Verify Software and Hardware Required 

In order to successfully install and use NetWare for the HP 3000 you need
the following softwareand hardware: 

   *   HP 3000 system Series 900.

   *   Minimum of 48 megabytes of RAM.

   *   Disk drive with at least 25 megabytes of free space.  (Equivalent
       to 300K sectors).  If you are migrating an existing NetWare 3.01B
       server, make sure to allow enough space for your user files.

   *   The LAN link installed and configured in NMMGR.

   *   For token-ring 
       networks, the Token Ring 3000/iX link product must be installed
       and configured (p.n.  J2167A). If the NetWare client PCs are on a
       token-ring segment, the NetWare client shells must be configured
       to support token-ring.

   *   DOS workstation that can be set up as NetWare client.  Minimum
       requirements:  640 KB memory, DOS 3.0 or greater, high-density
       floppy diskette drive (3.5 or 5.25 inch).

   *   Operating system:  MPE/iX 5.0 or later.
