Netware 3.11 for the HP 3000 Installing and Administering Guide

Example Configurations

The following section shows some sample network configurations you can
create by modifying the default network using the Quick Configuration
option in SCONSOLE.

Change Frame Type and Server Name

Using your file server worksheet, this example assumes you want to rename
the file server, and also change the frame type.

See Table 2-3 for changing a configuration.

The default values are used for the following network parameters:

The Main menu for SCONSOLE is displayed.

   3. At the select prompt, enter 1 for Quick Configuration then press
       the <Enter> (or <Return>) key

   4. The Quick Config Parameters screen is displayed. Make your
       configuration changes as noted below.

Change Network to Token-Ring

This example assumes you have only token-ring, and want to change the
default network to token-ring. You must have already verified the device
file name exists, or created the device file name (see Chapter 1, Verify
Link Configuration for instructions). This example uses the device file
name: dev/dlpi.trlink. You must also change the frame type to
token-ring.

See Table 2-5 to change network Token-Ring.

The default values are used for the following network parameters:

   3. At the select prompt, enter 1 for Quick Configuration then press
       the <Enter> (or <Return>) key.

   4. The Quick Config Parameters screen is displayed. Make your
       configuration changes as noted below.

   5. Save your changes by pressing <Enter> at the request prompt, and
replying y for yes to save changes when prompted.

   6. Exit SCONSOLE by typing e. Go to the section, Activate

Add Another NetWare Network

When you add another LAN card to your system, you must configure another
network for NetWare/iX using the SCONSOLE "Add a Network" function. See
Chapter 7, Advanced Configuration for these procedures. For each
additional network you want to configure, make a copy of the second page
of the File Server Worksheet to note your configuration items.

Activate Configuration Changes

To activate any configuration changes you have made, NetWare must be
stopped (if running), and restarted as described in Chapter 3, Start and
Stop NetWare.
