Obsolete Features
Obsolete features are elements of the language that are now part of[REV
BEG] the 1985 ANSI COBOL standard,[REV END] but will be deleted from
the[REV BEG] full[REV END] standard after ANSI COBOL'85. The ANSI85
entry point will continue to support these features.
The following items have been placed in the obsolete category:
* AUTHOR, DATE-WRITTEN, DATE-COMPILED, and SECURITY paragraphs in
the IDENTIFICATION DIVISION.
* MEMORY-SIZE clause of the OBJECT-COMPUTER paragraph.
* RERUN clause of the I-O-CONTROL paragraph.
* LABEL RECORDS clause of the file description entry.
* VALUE OF clause of the file description entry.
* DATA RECORDS clause of the file description entry.
* ALTER statement.
* ENTER statement.
* REVERSED phrase of the OPEN statement.
* STOP literal statement.
* Segmentation module.
* Debug module.
