MPE/iX Groups and Accounts
The HP ALLBASE/4GL installation procedure requires you to create an
account in the MPE/iX system for the various HP ALLBASE/4GL files. The
recommended name for the account is HP4GLR, but you may choose any valid
MPE/iX account name. Most parts of the HP ALLBASE/4GL run-time
environment system are installed under this account.
The installation procedure creates a number of groups for the different
types of HP ALLBASE/4GL files. In particular, there are groups for the
HP ALLBASE/4GL system files, and application databases.
The default MPE/iX account structure for HP ALLBASE/4GL consists of the
following groups:
* The HP4APPNR group. This group is the default location for the
application definition files used during the application loading
process.
* The HP4DATAR group. This group is the default location for KSAM
and serial data files for HP ALLBASE/4GL applications.
* The HP4DBMR group. This group is the default location for the
database module files used during the application loading process.
(Refer to Chapter 6 .)
* The HP4FSR group. This group is the default location for the KSAM
file-structure files used during the application loading process.
(Refer to Chapter 6 .)
* The HP4SR group containing the HP ALLBASE/4GL system files.
* The HP4SQLR group is the default location for HP ALLBASE/SQL
databases for HP ALLBASE/4GL applications.
* The HP4TIR group is the default location for HP TurboIMAGE/iX
databases used by HP ALLBASE/4GL applications.
HP ALLBASE/4GL also uses some files in the PUB.SYS group and account.
These files are program files and message catalogs.
If you need to use databases or data files that are not in these default
groups, your HP ALLBASE/4GL support service can help you establish the
appropriate MPE/iX group and account structure.
To use the HP ALLBASE/4GL run-time environment, you don't need to worry
about the details of this group and account structure. However, it's
important to realize that these various files, groups, and accounts must
be present on the MPE/iX system for HP ALLBASE/4GL to operate correctly.
Don't attempt to delete any files, or modify this structure.
