HP ALLBASE/4GL Developer Reference Manual Vol. 1
HP TurboIMAGE/iX Interface
The interface between HP ALLBASE/4GL and HP TurboIMAGE/iX consists of the
following components in HP ALLBASE/4GL:
* Dictionary data set definitions.
* Dictionary field specification (data item) definitions.
* HP ALLBASE/4GL logic commands.
* Utilities used to load HP TurboIMAGE/iX schema file details into
an HP ALLBASE/4GL application.
* Database access parameters and definitions (within the
administrator application).
This manual describes how to develop HP ALLBASE/4GL applications that
access HP TurboIMAGE/iX databases. You will need to be familiar with the
functionality and commands of HP TurboIMAGE/iX, and this manual assumes
that you have a firm knowledge of the HP TurboIMAGE/iX terminology and
basic features. Consequently, it does not contain detailed descriptions
of any HP TurboIMAGE/iX functionality. Refer to the HP TurboIMAGE/iX
Database Management System Reference Manual for more information about HP
TurboIMAGE/iX.
The following table shows the HP ALLBASE/4GL equivalent of HP
TurboIMAGE/iX terms. In most cases, HP ALLBASE/4GL terminology will be
used in this manual. However, the HP TurboIMAGE/iX data set terminology
will be used to distinguish operational differences between data sets and
KSAM and serial data files.

Within HP ALLBASE/4GL, field specifications and record layouts are used
to define the data items and the structure of data entries in HP
TurboIMAGE/iX data sets.
Chapter 5 of this manual contains a detailed explanation of the HP
ALLBASE/4GL facilities for defining field specifications, record layouts
and file definitions for HP TurboIMAGE/iX data sets.
HP TurboIMAGE/iX database components can be defined within HP
ALLBASE/4GL, but cannot be physically created within HP ALLBASE/4GL.
However, you can create HP TurboIMAGE/iX databases using the normal
creation methods. HP ALLBASE/4GL provides a utility to upload HP
TurboIMAGE/iX schema details to HP ALLBASE/4GL. Chapter 10 of this manual
describes this utility.
