HP ALLBASE/4GL Developer Reference Manual Vol. 1

Signing On to HP ALLBASE/4GL

You can sign on to HP ALLBASE/4GL as a developer and then either develop
a new application, or modify an existing application. You can also
create versions of existing applications. A version is a set of
additional components that work with an existing application. You can
use versions to adapt an application to suit the needs of a particular
end user, or group of end users.

In all cases, your system administrator must complete the developer
validation screen to register you as a developer. The system
administrator can specify a development security code for an application
or version. If you want to make changes to any secured components in the
application or version, you must enter this development security code
when you sign on to the application.

You can sign on to HP ALLBASE/4GL using the sign on screen or by
providing the sign on information on the MPE/iX sign on command line.

The Sign On Screen

[]
To sign on to HP ALLBASE/4GL, complete this screen as follows: 1. Enter your HP ALLBASE/4GL developer user name and then press Return. 2. If a password exists, enter it and then press Return. 3. Press the Commit Data function key. HP ALLBASE/4GL then displays the developer sign on window.
[]
4. Enter the name of the application or version you want to work on, and then press Return. If the application or version has a development security code and you want to work on secured components in the application or version, enter the code and press Return. Press the Commit Data function key to complete the sign on screen. (You can clear all the fields on the sign on screen by pressing the Start Again function key.) When you finish the sign on screen, HP ALLBASE/4GL displays the developer main menu. Bypassing the Sign On Screen HP ALLBASE/4GL allows you to specify your developer user name and password, and the application name and security code at the MPE/iX prompt. When you do this, HP ALLBASE/4GL takes you directly to the developer main menu. To do this you must supply the developer and application details when you invoke HP ALLBASE/4GL. For example: :HP4GL "-utricia:go4it -atraining:codeword" HP ALLBASE/4GL first verifies that tricia is a valid developer user name and that go4it is her correct password. HP ALLBASE/4GL then verifies that training is an application that tricia has access to. If any of these verifications fail, HP ALLBASE/4GL displays an error message and then exits. If codeword is the correct security code for the application, tricia will be able to modify secured items. Refer to "Command Line Options" and "Sign On Screen Bypass" later in this chapter for more information about command line options and login bypass.
