Using the Command Summary

A display of all HP EDIT commands and their key assignments may be
accessed by pressing 2 or pressing the Command Summary function key.
[REV BEG]

     Press F2, Command Summary[REV END]

The first page of the Command Summary is displayed. Commands are listed
alphabetically next to the current key assignment. If you have changed
the key that has been assigned to a command, the Command Summary screen
will reflect that change.

Notice that the first command, Activate Next Process, indicates that its
key assignment is "^N". The caret "^" indicates that the CTRL, or
control key, is used to execute this command. To execute the command,
Activate Next Process, you must press the CTRL key and the n key at the
same time. (You do not need to press the Shift key since the CTRL key
works the same for uppercase and lowercase letters.)

You can cycle through pages of the Command Summary by pressing the space
bar or pressing the function key labeled Next Page. HP EDIT has over 170
commands. Not all commands have assigned keys. Only commands that have
been assigned keys will be shown in the Command Summary. See the HP EDIT
Reference Manual to learn more about these commands, to learn how to
assign keys to these commands, or to learn how to execute commands that
do not have assigned keys. Cycle through several pages of the command
summary.
[REV BEG]

Press the space bar two times.[REV END]

The Meta Command Summary

Notice on this page that some of the commands in the command summary have
key assignments beginning with a "$". These commands are called Meta
commands and are grouped together in the latter portion of the Command
Summary.

Meta commands are HP EDIT commands that require you to press a special,
or Meta, character before another keystroke. The Meta character makes it
possible to generate many different commands and key assignments in HP
EDIT. The less frequently used commands have been assigned to the Meta
command set.

To execute a command (or to get Key Description help on a command) that
uses a Meta character you must first press the $ or ESC key. These keys
are the HP EDIT default Meta keys. For example, to execute the command
Delete Leading Blanks, press $ and then -. Alternately, press ESC and
then -.

Exiting the Command Summary

Each time you press the space bar, a new Command Summary screen is shown.
If you reach the end, HP EDIT will cycle back to the first screen again.
To leave the Command Summary and return to the Main Help menu, press
Return.
[REV BEG]

     Press Return[REV END]
