Release II of HP Open DeskManager and HP Open DeskManagerPLUS

Commercial Systems Division - Pinewood
Following customer feedback, CSY-Pinewood has made the decision to
provide HP Open DeskManager and HP Open DeskManagerPLUS for the HP 3000
900 Series, available as a product tape. This means that the following
products will cease to be part of the System Release cycle starting from
the MPE/iX 5.0 General Release version C.50.00:
* HP B3604A HP Open DeskManager and - Tier based
* HP B3605A HP Open DeskManagerPLUS - Tier based
* HP B3600A HP Open DeskManager - User based
The benefits of the revised delivery process include:
* General and Update Releases of the products will be installable
without experiencing HP 3000 downtime.
* Customers will not have to upgrade their Operating System to use
new functionality.
* New product features will be received within a matter of weeks
after MR.
* The complete product will arrive in a single package.
* Remote installation can be done by our larger customers.
Compatibility
HP OpenDesk Release II will be available for MPE/iX 4.0 and 5.0.
However, certain features will not be available with 4.0.
Upgrades
Being independent of the System Release cycle will not affect the method
currently used to distribute upgrades. These will continue to ship
through the HP distribution channels.
Updates/Bug Fixes
These will continue to be supplied via the current mechanism.
