The information provided in this Communicator gives you a good
understanding about the POSIX changes introduced with MPE/iX Release 5.0.

For System Managers, there is a Computer-Based Training program that
helps you learn how to manage the POSIX directory structure called the
Hierarchical File System (HFS). For more information, refer to the
article, "POSIX Computer-Based Training", in Chapter 5 of this
Communicator.

If you want to dig further into understanding or utilizing specific POSIX
functionality, we recommend the following four Hewlett-Packard customer

** New Features of MPE/iX: Using the Hierarchical File System 

This manual describes changes to MPE/iX as of Release 4.5 and 5.0.  These
changes enhance MPE/iX to make it "POSIX-compatible."

MPE/iX Shell and Utilities User's Guide

introduces the various components of MPE/iX Shell and Utilities through a
series of tutorials and guides.

This manual contains information on the following topics:

   *   MPE/iX Shell tutorial.
   *   AWK tutorial--AWK is a programming language, a report-generating

MPE/iX Shell and Utilities Reference Manual Volumes 1 and 2 

This manual is a two-volume set and is part of the complete MPE/iX
Developer's Kit.  The first volume describes the MPE/iX shell commands
and utilities alphabetically (A through P).

The second volume contains information on the following topics:

   *   Shell command and utility descriptions alphabetically from Q
       through Z.
   *   C Runtime library functions.
   *   File format descriptions.
   *   Implementation considerations.

**MPE/iX Developer's Kit Reference Manual Volumes 1 and 2 

This manual is a two-volume set and is part of the complete MPE/iX
Developer's Kit.

Volume 1 describes the POSIX/iX library and contains information on the
following topics:

   *   Using the library.
   *   Implementation considerations.
   *   Function descriptions.
   *   Header descriptions.

Volume 2 describes the supplemental POSIX/iX library and contains
information on the following topics:

   *   SVID IPC library function descriptions interprocess communication
       services.
