BFree

On extremely busy or large systems, in particular systems with heavy TurboIMAGE usage, it's possible for the operating system's Extent B-tree Table to become completely filled. This can lead to a System Abort and potential loss of data. Given that Hewlett-Packard has halted all development on the MPE/iX platform it's highly unlikely that this problem will ever be addressed with an OS patch.

Enter BFree, a utility which can reclaim Extent B-tree entries used by TurboIMAGE. At the small expense of extra memory usage, BFree is able to return hundreds or thousands of such entries back to the operating system, thereby helping to avoid system aborts. (One customer reports saving over 28,000 entries!) In addition, BFree can report information about the Extent B-tree Table.
